Who are we?

The St Margaret’s Society of Queens’ (MagSoc for short) is the music society of Queens’ College, Cambridge. We are one of the largest and most inclusive music societies in Cambridge, with activities ranging from jazz sets to operas! Whether you are an experienced instrumentalist, or a complete novice, you are sure to find something in MagSoc which suits your tastes.

MagSoc does not just involve Queens’ students! We welcome anyone with an interest in music, both from within and without the university. Our chorus and orchestras are large and friendly, so you won’t feel out of place, whatever your background.

You can find information about who runs MagSoc on the committee page.

What do we do?

The Magsoc Chorus is Cambridge’s largest and longest running non-audition choral society. Twice a year it joins with the Magsoc Symphony Orchestra to perform a large-scale choral work, usually at the West Road Concert Hall. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and the after-parties are legendary! See the musical groups page for further information.

There’s always chamber music going on with MagSoc, and support for new groups is readily available. Soloists and small groups can perform in our informal recitals, which are always enjoyable.

MagSoc prides itself on promoting student conductors and soloists. There’s a huge variety of opportunities available; see the opportunities page for more details.
